A Chinese insider has published a list of devices compatible with iOS 27. If the leak is confirmed, at least four iPhone models will lose support for the new system, and the minimum threshold for the update will be an iPhone based on the A14 processor. Let’s figure out how plausible this information is, when iOS 27 will be released, and what to expect from it.

4 iPhones that won’t get iOS 27
Which 4 iPhone Models Won’t Update to iOS 27
According to a post by a certain blogger on Weibo, whom many trust, iOS 27 will not support the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone SE second generation. All four models run on the Apple A13 Bionic processor and were released in 2019–2020.

This is roughly what the list of iOS 27-compatible devices looks like
This information was also confirmed by 9to5Mac, noting that the leak points to a full list of compatible models from which these four devices are specifically absent. If the rumor turns out to be true, this will be the second year in a row that Apple has cut support: last year, the iPhone XS generation was dropped from the list.
Will the iPhone 12 Get the iOS 27 Update
According to the leak, the minimum device for installing iOS 27 will be the iPhone 12 with the A14 Bionic processor. The iPhone 12 lineup was released in October 2020 and became the first to support 5G, feature OLED screens across all models, and sport an updated design with flat edges.
The difference between the A13 Bionic (iPhone 11) and the A14 Bionic (iPhone 12) is fundamental: the A14 is manufactured using a 5-nanometer process instead of 7-nanometer, and its Neural Engine (responsible for AI-related tasks) received 16 cores instead of 8. It is likely these capabilities that draw the compatibility line.
It’s important to understand: even among supported models, not all iOS 27 features will be available. Apple Intelligence features still require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, so the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 will receive the system update but without AI capabilities.
What’s New Apple Promises in iOS 27
According to preliminary data, iOS 27 will focus on stability, and the number of new features will be limited. Nevertheless, several innovations have already leaked:
- Quick toggles on the home screen for undoing and redoing changes to icon arrangement
- A slider for adjusting the Liquid Glass effect — users will be able to adjust the degree of transparency rather than simply choosing between two modes
- Updated Siri design — the voice assistant will be integrated into the Dynamic Island and will expand as a capsule with a “Search or question” field when activated
- New Visual Intelligence capabilities: scanning food labels and recognizing phone numbers or addresses on printed materials
- Improvements to the Wallet app and Safari browser

In iOS 27, Siri is supposed to get much smarter. Surely this time for real
Additionally, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple will finally deliver on its artificial intelligence promises by expanding Apple Intelligence features.
When to Expect the iOS 27 Announcement and Release
The official announcement is expected at the WWDC conference, which will take place from June 8 to 12, 2026. The first developer beta typically appears the same day after the main keynote. The public release for all users traditionally comes out in September, alongside the new iPhones.
Until official confirmation from Apple, it’s worth remembering that this is a leak, not a confirmed fact. The final list of compatible devices will only be known at WWDC.
