Just recently we talked about the best Realme phones in 2026, and now there’s a new addition to their ranks. The Realme 16T 5G smartphone is a newcomer to the Realme 16 series, betting not on performance but on battery life. The model’s main trump card is an 8000 mAh battery that the company fit into a body just 8.8 mm thick. The smartphone was officially unveiled in India, and here’s what you need to know about it.

A Smartphone with a Massive 8000 mAh Battery

The main feature of the Realme 16T is its 8000 mAh battery. For context: its predecessor, the Realme 15T, had a 7000 mAh battery, meaning there’s been a 1000 mAh increase from one generation to the next. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone can last up to three days on a single charge. For devices in this class, that’s truly impressive, and I’d consider it as a long-lasting companion.

At the same time, the body hasn’t become bulky: the thickness is 8.8 mm and the weight is 224 grams. That’s noticeably heavier than most mid-range smartphones, but for a battery of this capacity, it’s a decent result. The device charges via 45W wired charging and can also work as a power bank, supporting 15W reverse charging. There’s also so-called bypass charging: in this mode, energy goes directly to the system, bypassing the battery, which reduces heat during extended gaming sessions.

Key Specifications of the Realme 16T

The smartphone features a 6.8-inch LCD display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. The resolution is HD+ (1570 x 720 pixels), and this is one of the notable compromises: on a screen of this size, pixels may be visible, especially when reading small text. For watching videos and social media, it’s enough, but if you’re used to FullHD — the difference will be noticeable. Especially considering that the Realme 15T had a FullHD AMOLED screen.

Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. This is a budget platform designed for everyday tasks: messengers, browser, video, and undemanding games. For serious gaming or heavy multitasking, it won’t have enough power. A vapor chamber with an area of 5300 mm² is provided for cooling.

Camera: 50 MP main module on a Sony IMX852 sensor plus an auxiliary 2 MP sensor. Front camera: 16 MP. On the back panel, there’s an unusual addition: a small mirror for a “selfie preview” that lets you frame a self-portrait while shooting with the main camera. The idea isn’t new — we’ve already seen it on its older sibling, the Realme 16, which was introduced a few months earlier.

The Realme 16T runs Android 16 with Realme UI 7.0 out of the box. However, the company hasn’t announced how many years of updates the device will receive. And I’d be cautious, considering that competitors in this price segment are increasingly promising 3–4 years of support.

The smartphone received IP69 protection, which means resistance not only to water submersion but also to high-pressure and high-temperature water jets. Additionally, MIL-STD-810H military standard certification is claimed — a set of tests for drop resistance, vibration resistance, and temperature fluctuations.

How Much Does the Realme 16T Cost

The smartphone is available in three configurations:

  • 6 GB + 128 GB — 29,999 rupees (approximately $350)
  • 8 GB + 128 GB — 31,999 rupees (approximately $375)
  • 8 GB + 256 GB — 34,999 rupees (approximately $410)

The smartphone is available in the following colors: Aurora Green, Starlight Black, and Starlight Red (the latter is exclusive to India). Pre-orders are already open on Flipkart and the official Realme India website, and the first sale begins on May 27. There’s no information yet about plans to launch in other markets.

Is the Realme 16T Worth Buying in 2026?

The Realme 16T is a smartphone for those who critically need battery life and are willing to accept compromises for it. An 8000 mAh battery in a relatively thin body is a real advantage for people who spend a lot of time away from an outlet: on the road, working in the field, or on trips.

However, the Dimensity 6300 processor is a budget solution for a smartphone at this price. Competitors in this price segment often offer more powerful chips. The HD resolution on a 6.8-inch screen also raises questions, and the camera setup lacks an ultra-wide module, which in 2026 has become standard even for budget devices.

If you need a “marathon” phone with solid water and shock protection, the Realme 16T deserves attention. If your priorities are performance, display quality, or a camera for something more than social media — it’s worth looking at alternatives that are currently available at a discount.
