At the end of 2025, I was choosing a compact camera phone and settled on the vivo X300. In short: I wanted a smartphone that’s comfortable to hold with one hand while shooting at flagship level. Now the OnePlus 15T has been released, and this is exactly the compact smartphone of 2026 I was looking for back then. I was just a few months too late.

Why a Compact Flagship Is a Rarity in 2026
The smartphone market in 2026 is a competition of batteries and screen sizes. All manufacturers are rushing to offer 7000–8000 mAh, but in 6.7–6.9-inch bodies. A compact smartphone with a big battery is almost an oxymoron. That’s exactly why I chose the vivo X300 at the time: it has 6040 mAh in a body with a 6.3-inch screen, which is already a rarity. The new OnePlus 15T goes further: 7500 mAh in a similar body. It’s roughly the size of an iPhone 16 Pro, but with nearly double the battery capacity. This is a true engineering feat.
The OnePlus 15T price is 37,168 rubles for the Chinese version. For comparison: my vivo X300 in the Chinese version costs around 43,000 rubles. The OnePlus 15T is cheaper, with a bigger battery and a more powerful processor. If it had come out six months earlier, things might have turned out differently.
OnePlus 15T Smartphone Review
The OnePlus 15T phone comes in three colors: brown, white, and Relaxed Matcha green. The matte glass with AG etching doesn’t collect fingerprints even without a case. It feels like jade to the touch: cool, pleasant, clean.

Screen with thin and symmetrical bezels
The 6.32-inch AMOLED screen has 1.1 mm bezels (thinner than a bank card). With bezels this thin, the display takes up virtually the entire front panel. 165 Hz is a record among compact flagships — no one else in this form factor has it. For those choosing which compact smartphone to buy in 2026, the OnePlus 15T screen will be the main argument. And the 71.8 mm width means your thumb can reach any corner of the screen without shifting your grip. The 50:50 balance means the center of gravity sits right in your palm. If you’re tired of 6.8–7.0-inch bricks, this feeling seems almost unbelievable at first.
OnePlus 15T Camera — Periscope Instead of Ultrawide
This is where we need to be honest. The OnePlus 15T specifications for cameras look like this: 50 MP main with OIS and 50 MP periscope telephoto 3.5x with an 85 mm focal length. That’s it. No ultrawide.

Only two real cameras on the back
This is a deliberate decision, not cost-cutting. OnePlus sacrificed the ultrawide angle for a quality periscope, and the choice in favor of the telephoto makes sense. 85 mm is the ideal focal length for portraits. The LUMO Condensed Light algorithm from OPPO ensures stable performance in challenging lighting.
But if you regularly shoot architecture, landscapes, or tight interiors, the lack of an ultrawide will be noticeable. This is a compromise for compactness, not an oversight.
Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in a Compact
A review of the OnePlus 15T is impossible without talking about heat: it’s the eternal problem of compact smartphones with powerful chips. In a large body, the vapor chamber takes up a lot of space and dissipates heat well. In a small one, everything is sacrificed for compactness.
OnePlus solved this in a non-trivial way. The vapor chamber with an area of 5150 mm² takes up about 80% of the front part of the body. That’s quite a lot for such a small device. The OnePlus 15T in AnTuTu scores 3,983,248 points — a result on par with flagships without any caveats. Extended video exports and heavy gaming don’t cause localized overheating. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on 3 nm paired with 16 GB LPDDR5X Ultra Pro is even overkill for everyday tasks. But that’s a good thing: the power reserve means the smartphone won’t start lagging in two years.
OnePlus 15T Battery and Battery Life
7500 mAh is the main reason I regret buying the vivo X300 before the OnePlus 15T launch. The vivo has 6040 mAh — that’s a day and a half with moderate use. The OnePlus 15T with the same screen size delivers two full days. With active use — a confident full day with room to spare.
100W wired charging fills the 7500 mAh in about 40–45 minutes. 50W wireless charging takes about an hour and a half. Ten minutes at the outlet in the morning gives you about 30% charge — enough to leave the house without worry.
OnePlus 15T vs OnePlus 15 — Which to Choose

This elegant compact is truly worth buying
Here’s the main question for the buyer. Both models cost under 40,000 rubles, which makes the comparison especially interesting.
OnePlus 15T vs OnePlus 15 — what’s the real difference:
- Size: OnePlus 15T 6.32″ vs 6.78″ for the OnePlus 15 — a fundamental difference for those who value compactness;
- Ultrawide: the OnePlus 15 has three cameras with an ultrawide module, the 15T only has a main and a periscope;
- Battery: 7500 mAh for the OnePlus 15T vs 7300 mAh for the OnePlus 15 — the OnePlus 15T lasts longer;
- Cooling: the OnePlus 15 has a larger body, so it dissipates heat slightly better under prolonged load;
- OnePlus 15 firmware: global version with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16.
My verdict: if you need a compact smartphone, go for the OnePlus 15T without hesitation. If you frequently use the ultrawide and aren’t ready to give it up, go for the OnePlus 15. The OnePlus 15T is the best compact smartphone with a big battery for the money right now.
