Thanks to Chinese scientists, bald people won’t need hair transplants anymore
Scientists have developed a new experimental hair loss serum that can noticeably improve hair condition in just two months. The main secret lies in an unusual combination of the familiar caffeine and microscopic biological “packages” from plant cells. The results are still preliminary, but they already show how common substances can help solve complex medical problems.
Composition of the New Anti-Baldness Treatment
Our hair is not just a thread but a complex biological structure that grows from a living root — the follicle. For hair to remain thick, this root must regularly receive the right chemical signals. In this new development by Taiwanese scientists, a whole cocktail of active substances is responsible for delivering those signals.
The researchers took caffeine and panthenol — substances commonly found in cosmetics — as a base but supplemented them with more powerful components. The key innovation was the use of so-called extracellular vesicles.
In simple terms, vesicles are tiny courier packages that cells use to communicate with each other. The scientists extracted these “packages” from Centella asiatica. This popular plant contains special natural compounds (saponins and triterpenoids) that effectively strengthen the skin and create ideal conditions for new hair growth.
Plant extracts and caffeine alone would not be enough for a quick and noticeable effect, so the formula was enhanced with growth factors. These are special proteins that work like an “on” button for the cells in our body.
The new serum includes two key proteins:
- Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 (FGF7) — it is responsible for maintaining the health and renewal of scalp skin cells;
- Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) — it directly awakens hair follicles and stimulates their activity.
This combination works comprehensively. First, the plant extracts and panthenol restore the skin, and then the protein factors signal dormant roots to start growing. Caffeine in this ensemble serves as an additional stimulator of local metabolism.

Creating an effective formula requires precise dosing of proteins and plant extracts
How Well Does the Baldness Treatment Work
To test the theory in practice, the researchers assembled a group of volunteers. Each day, participants applied exactly one milliliter of the developed product to their scalps.
Measurements were taken using specialized equipment that recorded the density and thickness of each hair. After eight weeks, hair thickness in volunteers increased by approximately 25% compared to those who received a placebo (a regular dummy product).
Despite the impressive numbers, the study authors urge caution. Larger-scale clinical trials lie ahead for the serum’s creators. The team is currently investigating how exactly the product handles different types of baldness and is trying to find the most effective proportion of all components.
This development shows that the future of baldness treatment lies not in finding one magic ingredient but in the smart combination of substances. If large-scale tests confirm the serum’s safety and effectiveness, millions of people will have an accessible and straightforward way to restore hair thickness without complex medical procedures.
