When Apple introduced the MacBook Neo on March 4, 2026, everyone noticed the price — $599 for the base version. At the current exchange rate, that’s roughly 47,000 rubles. Sounds like a dream, but things work differently in Russia. Apple doesn’t officially operate in the country, which means all MacBook Neos reach us through parallel imports. And that immediately drives the price up.
The official price isn’t very attractive
The situation at major retail chains is predictable. At M.Video, the base MacBook Neo with 256 GB is priced at 79,990 rubles. At re:Store — roughly the same, from 75,000 to 80,000 rubles. That’s nearly twice the American price. The markup is understandable — parallel imports, logistics, retail space rent, consultant salaries — but it’s no less frustrating. Moreover, the MacBook Neo price in Russia has risen by 10,000 over recent weeks. However, the situation on marketplaces is noticeably more interesting, and that’s exactly where you should look for the best deals.
MacBook Neo on Ozon: Price Including Customs Duty
At the time of writing, the cheapest MacBook Neo in Russia is sold on Ozon. The base version with 256 GB SSD and an Ozon Bank card comes to just 49,300 rubles. That’s already very close to the American price tag — the difference is literally a couple of thousand rubles.
The price on Ozon is top-notch
But don’t celebrate too soon. You need to add the customs duty — which amounts to roughly 5,700 rubles. Ozon honestly warns about this right in the product listing, and it deserves credit for that. So the total real cost of the MacBook Neo on Ozon comes to around 55,000 rubles.
Let’s do the math. At M.Video, they’re asking 79,990 rubles for the exact same laptop. On Ozon with the duty — 55,000 rubles. The savings — nearly 25,000 rubles. For that money, you could buy decent AirPods headphones or a keyboard case. The difference is enormous, and for a budget Apple laptop it’s especially significant — that’s almost a third of the device’s cost itself.
On Yandex Market, prices are slightly higher. The most affordable offers start from 66,000–68,000 rubles for the 256 GB version. Some sellers ship the laptop from abroad, and customs duty may also be added to the price. So Ozon is currently the clear price leader.
MacBook Neo Specs: Processor, Display, and Memory
The MacBook Neo is a 13-inch laptop in an aluminum body weighing 1.23 kg. Inside is the Apple A18 Pro processor — the same one found in the iPhone 16 Pro. For a laptop, this sounds unusual, but in practice the chip handles all everyday tasks: a browser with dozens of tabs, office apps, video calls, and even basic 4K video editing. However, there are nuances — Apple has reportedly run out of A18 Pro processors for the MacBook Neo, and this could affect supply.
Choosing Neo gets you a laptop with a truly high-quality display
The display is Liquid Retina with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels and brightness up to 500 nits. The refresh rate is a standard 60 Hz, no ProMotion. The color gamut is sRGB, not DCI-P3 like the higher-end models. For work and study, this is sufficient, but designers and photographers should look toward the MacBook Air.
RAM is 8 GB, and it cannot be expanded. Many people ask whether it’s possible to increase the RAM in the MacBook Neo, but the answer is definitive — no. By 2026 standards, this is modest, especially when even the base MacBook Air now comes with 16 GB. But for the Neo’s target audience — students and users with basic needs — it’s still enough for now. Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours of video playback, which translates to about 13 hours of active use in practice. For a laptop at 55,000 rubles — that’s an excellent figure.
For ports — two USB-C and a 3.5 mm audio jack. One port supports USB 3 with speeds up to 10 Gbps, the second is limited to USB 2 — just 480 Mbps. No MagSafe, no Thunderbolt either. But the laptop is completely silent thanks to passive cooling. It’s available in four colors: Silver, Pink (Blush), Yellow (Citrus), and Blue (Indigo).
Should You Buy the MacBook Neo Now or Wait
Prices for the MacBook Neo in Russia are gradually decreasing. Back in March, the base version was going for 70,000–80,000 rubles literally everywhere, and now on Ozon you can get it for 55,000 rubles including customs duty. The trend is obvious: the more laptops are imported into the country, the lower the price.
At 55K, you can confidently go for it
According to forecasts, by summer the price could drop to 50,000–53,000 rubles on marketplaces. But if you need the laptop right now, the current Ozon price is perfectly reasonable. For 55,000 rubles, you get a full-fledged MacBook with macOS Tahoe, a quality display, and all-day battery life. For comparison, at the 79,990 rubles that M.Video is asking, you could already start looking at a MacBook Air on M1 or even refurbished models on M2.
The main thing — don’t forget to account for customs duty when buying from marketplaces. It’s not always included in the price, and the final amount may differ.
