The iPhone 18 Pro presentation is still several months away, but accessory manufacturers are already preparing in full swing. Photos of screen protectors for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have appeared online — and they reveal what Apple’s new flagships will look like. In short: taller, narrower, and with a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island.

Where Did the iPhone 18 Pro Screen Protectors Come From
The screen protector photos were published by insider Majin Bu on his X account. The images show two screen protectors labeled iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro. And it’s immediately obvious: they are noticeably different from protectors for current models. Majin Bu is no newcomer to the world of Apple leaks. He was one of the first in 2024 to show screen protectors for the iPhone 16 Pro, which confirmed the screen size increase to 6.3 and 6.9 inches. That information turned out to be accurate. So his posts should be taken seriously, though with a caveat: this is not official data yet.
Some might say: so what, screen protectors. What difference does it make what Chinese manufacturers drew up? But in reality, accessory leaks are one of the most reliable sources of information about upcoming iPhones. Case and screen protector manufacturers receive blueprints from Apple well before the presentation — they need to prepare production so accessories are available on launch day. So when accessories start appearing online, it means the device design is virtually finalized. That’s exactly what happened with the iPhone 16 Pro in 2024 and the iPhone 17 Air in 2025.
What the iPhone 18 Pro Screen Will Look Like
The main thing visible from the screen protectors is that they are elongated and slightly narrower than those for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. This means Apple may change the screen proportions, making the smartphones taller without significantly increasing width.

The screen protectors for the new iPhones are elongated in height
According to preliminary estimates, the iPhone 18 Pro display diagonal will grow from the current 6.3 to approximately 6.4 inches. And the iPhone 18 Pro Max may cross the psychological 7-inch mark — for the first time in iPhone history. The current Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen, so we’re talking about a noticeable increase.
On paper, a difference of one-tenth of an inch seems tiny. But in practice, even such an increase is noticeable: more content on screen, more comfortable video watching, and better multitasking with two apps. This will be especially appreciated by those who actively use their iPhone for work, reading, or content consumption.
The change in proportions is not just a designer’s whim. Many Android smartphone manufacturers have long switched to more elongated screens, and the reason is simple: a large display is easier to hold with one hand if it’s not too wide. Apple maintained the same front panel proportions for Pro models for years. iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, 17 Pro — the front design barely changed. If this leak proves accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro will be the first serious form factor update in several years. At the same time, the body width will apparently remain the same or even decrease slightly. In other words, Apple is increasing screen area through height rather than width — a smart move.
How Dynamic Island Will Change in iPhone 18 Pro
The second important observation is that the Dynamic Island cutout is significantly smaller than on current models. It’s still centered, but has become noticeably more compact.

Dynamic Island will become significantly smaller
This aligns with numerous leaks that have appeared since early 2026. According to insider Ice Universe, Dynamic Island will shrink by approximately 35% — from 20.76 mm to 13.49 mm. The difference is enormous.
How will Apple achieve this? According to several sources, the company will move some Face ID components under the display. Specifically, the flood illuminator will go under the screen. It’s the simplest optical component in the system and the easiest to hide.
However, the front camera, dot projector, and infrared camera will remain inside the smaller “island.” Completely eliminating Dynamic Island isn’t possible yet — under-display Face ID technology isn’t ready. But a one-third reduction is already a significant step forward.
iPhone 18 Pro Specs: What’s Known About the Smartphone Before Presentation
Beyond the screen and Dynamic Island, leaks reveal other changes as well. Here’s what’s expected:

The smartphone will get a new color and fresh hardware
- Camera with variable aperture. The main camera on the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a mechanical variable aperture system. This would allow better control over depth of field and exposure — similar to professional cameras.
- Larger sensor. According to rumors, Apple will switch to a 1/1.12-inch sensor. A larger sensor means better quality in low light.
- A20 Pro chip on 2nm process. The next generation of Apple processors promises to be significantly faster and more energy-efficient.
- Apple’s own modem. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 18 Pro may feature Apple’s in-house C2 modem instead of Qualcomm chips.
When Will iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max Be Released
Apple traditionally unveils new Pro iPhone models in September. It’s expected that iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be shown in fall 2026. The base iPhone 18 and updated iPhone Air may come later — in spring 2027.
There are still about four months until the presentation, and new leaks will surely appear during that time. But the picture is already quite clear: Apple is preparing the most significant iPhone design update since Dynamic Island debuted in 2022. Screens will be larger, Dynamic Island will be smaller, and body proportions will change for the first time in years. The main question is: how much will all this affect usability? We’ll find out this fall.
