Less than two months remain until WWDC 2026. The conference will take place from June 8 to 12, and it’s where Apple will unveil iOS 27. The update, according to rumors, will be focused on stability — it’s already being compared to the legendary Mac OS X Snow Leopard. But it won’t be entirely without new features. We’ve already covered several new iOS 27 features, and now rumors about the main changes have surfaced. The centerpiece of the presentation will be a completely redesigned Siri, along with some nice additions for the home screen and interface customization.

Not much time left until iOS 27 release
New Siri in iOS 27
The biggest new feature is a completely revamped Siri. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is moving the voice assistant’s interface directly into the Dynamic Island. When you activate Siri, the “island” will expand and display a text bar reading “Search or Ask” with a blinking cursor. A distinctive glow will appear around the Dynamic Island. Interestingly, Apple already showed this glow in the WWDC 2026 promotional graphics — so the hint was in plain sight from the very beginning.

Siri is supposed to get smarter. Surely this time for real
While Siri processes a request, the Dynamic Island will display its status. After processing, the “island” will expand into a semi-transparent panel with results. Pulling it down will take you to a full conversation — almost like in iMessage.
But the most important thing is the standalone Siri app. It will be pre-installed in iOS 27 and will rival ChatGPT or Claude in capabilities. Inside — a full conversation history displayed as message bubbles, search through past conversations, favorite chats, and the ability to switch between text and voice modes. You’ll even be able to upload documents and photos for analysis.
Siri Extensions in iOS 27
Apple is also testing a system-wide “Ask Siri” button that will appear in other apps’ menus. Alongside it — a “Write with Siri” option right above the keyboard, providing quick access to text writing tools.

Extensions will be available for Siri
The “Extensions” feature deserves special attention. According to rumors, the App Store will get a dedicated section — essentially an AI integration marketplace. Third-party developers will be able to connect their AI agents to Siri, expanding its capabilities. Siri can already reach out to ChatGPT, but “Extensions” will make the system truly open.
An important detail: Dynamic Island has been available since iPhone 14 Pro, but the full new Siri interface will most likely only work on iPhone 15 Pro and newer. The reason — Apple Intelligence hardware requirements.
Home Screen Customization on iPhone in iOS 27
A small but long-awaited improvement. According to the same Gurman, the home screen customization menu in iOS 27 will feature “Undo” and “Redo” buttons.

The home screen will be easier to customize than it is now
Currently, when you long-press on the home screen, you see four options: “Add Widget,” “Customize,” “Change Wallpaper,” and “Edit Pages.” Apple plans to add two new buttons. Accidentally moved an icon or deleted a widget — simply press “Undo” and restore everything. Changed your mind — press “Redo.”
How deep the undo history will go is still unknown. But for quick experiments with home screen layouts, this feature will definitely come in handy.
Disabling Liquid Glass on iPhone
Another new feature — expanded customization of the “Liquid Glass” effect that Apple introduced in iOS 26. Currently, only two options are available: “Clear” and “Tinted.” In iOS 27, a smooth slider will appear, allowing you to finely adjust the degree of transparency and tinting of the interface.
After the release of iOS 26, many users complained that Liquid Glass looked too intrusive and hindered the readability of elements, which even prompted Apple to add a couple of settings. The slider will solve this problem: you’ll choose how pronounced the effect is — from barely noticeable to maximally saturated. For those who find the current design too aggressive, this will be a real lifesaver.
When Will iOS 27 Be Released

iOS 27 will be unveiled at WWDC 2026
Apple will showcase iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, which kicks off on June 8. Immediately after the keynote, closed beta testing for developers will begin, and the public beta typically arrives a few weeks later.
The final release of iOS 27 for all users is traditionally expected in September — coinciding with the launch of new iPhones. The update’s main focus is not revolutionary features, but stability, performance, and bug fixes. A side benefit of this approach is a likely increase in battery life. After the massive visual overhaul of iOS 26 with Liquid Glass, this seems like a logical next step.
