The Watch Fit lineup occupies a niche in the HUAWEI watch ecosystem between simple fitness bands and full-fledged Watch GT smartwatches. It features a rectangular display, a focus on health and sports, and a price significantly lower than flagship models. At the end of February, I picked up the Watch Fit 4 at a good discount. And now HUAWEI has already introduced the fifth generation. Looking at the specs, I’m thinking: is it worth buying the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro?

The new HUAWEI smartwatches are already here

Design and Screen of HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 and Fit 5 Pro

Visually, the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 design has barely changed compared to the fourth version: the same rectangular case, the same 9.5 mm thickness, the same 27 g weight. HUAWEI didn’t touch what already works. The form factor is great: the watch is lightweight, doesn’t press on the wrist, and doesn’t catch on sleeves.

The main difference is in the screen. The base model retains the 1.82-inch diagonal, but brightness increased from 2000 to 2500 nits. The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro has a larger 1.92-inch screen (now occupying 83% of the front panel) with brightness boosted to 3000 nits. The brightness difference compared to the base version is noticeable: you’ll feel it in strong sunlight.

HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 watch faces have become more diverse: video watch faces, themed sets, and interactive options with a panda character have appeared among them. I’ll talk about the panda separately — it’s one of the most unusual features of this update.

Specifications of HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 and Fit 5 Pro

Here are the key specifications of both models compared:

The TruSense 6LED+6PD sensor is a serious upgrade over the HUAWEI Watch Fit 4. It measures heart rate, blood oxygen levels, performs ECG, and most interestingly, tracks blood sugar levels. Previously, this feature was only available in the higher-end Watch 4 and D2 models, which cost significantly more.

Features of HUAWEI Watch Fit 5

The main novelty that HUAWEI is presenting as the “generation feature” is micro-workouts with a panda. The idea is this: the watch offers short exercises for different body parts right on your wrist, while an animated panda demonstrates proper technique. Thirty exercises for ten body parts: neck, shoulders, back, legs, and so on. It looks cute, and for those who spend a lot of time at a computer, this could be genuinely useful.

Besides the panda, the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 smartwatch got several practical updates:

  • cycling with automatic fall detection and emergency call;
  • tennis support through the Tennix app (the watch records shots and match statistics);
  • badminton, basketball, and other game sports through third-party apps;
  • TruSleep 5.0 sleep monitoring with sleep structure analysis and stable phase tracking;
  • 64 GB of built-in storage (you can store music and maps);
  • Alipay payments directly from the wrist without unlocking the screen.

All of this works in conjunction with the HUAWEI Health app and is compatible with both Android and iOS. iPhone owners also have access to most features.

Battery Life and Charging of HUAWEI Watch Fit 5

Battery life is the same for both models: 7 days in normal mode, 10 days with light use, 4 days with always-on display (AOD). This is comparable to the Watch Fit 4: there’s no major leap, but the battery has always been one of the series’ strong points.

The difference between models lies in charging speed. The base version charges wirelessly in 75 minutes. The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro smartwatch got fast charging, with a full cycle taking 60 minutes. Not much, but a nice touch.

By the way, HUAWEI upgraded the battery: battery density increased by 14%, and capacity grew by 18% compared to the fourth generation. At the same time, weight and dimensions remained unchanged. Great engineering work.

Release Date and Price of HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 in Russia

Sales in China have already started: the base model went on sale April 29, and the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro is expected later (China launch is May 15). Chinese HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 prices start at 1099 yuan (approximately 12,100 rubles at the current exchange rate). The Pro starts at 2099 yuan, which is about 23,200 rubles.
