Wildberries has changed its order cancellation rules: canceling an order through the WB app is now paid. Previously, you could change your mind for free without losing anything, but now the marketplace charges money for the procedure itself. Today we’ll figure out how much it costs to cancel a Wildberries order, within what timeframe it can be done, and how you can get around this rule and cancel Wildberries orders for free.

What Changed in the Wildberries Order Cancellation Rules

The main change is simple: canceling an order in the app is now paid. If you placed an order and then decided to cancel before receiving it, the marketplace will charge a cancellation fee — even if you don’t use WB Wallet. Wildberries hasn’t provided an exact reason, nor has it specified how long the new policy will last.

An important nuance: it’s specifically cancellation through the app that became paid, not refusal as such. Although it’s still possible to refuse an order for free. But we’ll explain how to do that a bit later. For now, let’s finish with how to cancel an order on WB through the app.

You can cancel almost any order

  • Open the Wildberries app on your iPhone;
  • Go to your profile and open the orders tab;
  • Find the order you want to cancel and open it;
  • Tap the “Cancel” button and confirm the cancellation.

What’s interesting is that in my case, no cancellation fee was charged. This is clearly visible in the screenshots. But there could be two explanations. First — the change hasn’t been rolled out to everyone yet. Second — WB provides some limit of free cancellations, and if you exceed it, the marketplace will start charging you.

How Much Does Order Cancellation on Wildberries Cost

First, let’s determine the cost of canceling a Wildberries order. According to publicly available data, the service price can vary and ranges from 50 to 100 rubles depending on the region and possibly the product.

The changes hit hardest for those who are used to filling their cart “to try on” and then mass-canceling half the items. Ordering clothes and shoes in multiple sizes can now add up to a noticeable amount if you cancel the extras directly in the app.

If you order selectively and pick up almost everything you’ve ordered, the change will barely affect your budget.

What Happens If You Don’t Pick Up a Wildberries Order

But that’s not the most unpleasant part. There’s also a separate fine for uncollected orders, and it’s noticeably higher — 200 or 500 rubles depending on the situation.

The fine is charged if you ordered a product on WB, didn’t cancel it, and didn’t come to the pickup point to collect it. In other words, the product sat at the pickup point for some time and was then sent back. In this case, the fine will be deducted from you. The amount depends on how much the original purchase cost. For something like socks, the charge will be less, while for winter tires — more.

How to Cancel a Wildberries Order for Free at the Pickup Point

The simplest way to avoid paying is not to cancel the order in the app, but to refuse it at the pickup point. The logic is this: the product arrives at the pickup point, you open it, inspect it, and simply don’t purchase it.

  1. Wait until the order arrives at the pickup point and you receive a notification that it’s ready.
  2. Go to the pickup point and ask the employee to bring out the product for inspection.
  3. Open the packaging and check the item in the fitting room or on the spot.
  4. If the product doesn’t suit you, tell the employee that you’re refusing to purchase.
  5. The money will be returned to your payment method in the usual manner, without a cancellation fee.

This route takes longer than canceling with a couple of taps, but it costs nothing. Essentially, the marketplace is pushing buyers not to refuse products in advance but to let the order reach the pickup point and decide there.

Why Wildberries Charges for Order Cancellation

There’s no detailed official explanation, but the market logic is clear. Mass cancellations and uncollected orders create extra logistics costs: products are assembled, transported, processed, and then returned.

The cancellation fee is a way to shift some of these costs onto the buyer and reduce the number of “empty” orders. It’s not pleasant, but nobody forces you to cancel the order specifically in the app: going to the pickup point and refusing there is still free.
