GTA 6 development became one of the most prolonged in gaming history. More than ten years have passed since the release of GTA V. In that time, players have finished school, changed jobs, and upgraded their hardware several times over.

GTA 6 Story

The GTA 6 story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. They get caught up in a criminal conspiracy spanning the entire state of Leonida after an attempt to make easy money goes wrong.

Lucia Caminos is the first female protagonist in the main Grand Theft Auto series. This is an event in itself: the series has always been built around male lead characters. The two-character format is already familiar from GTA 5, but there Rockstar played on the contrast of three different destinies. Here the focus is different: relationships, trust, and trying to survive together in a world that is gradually spinning out of control.

It’s easy to see a modern variation of the Bonnie and Clyde story here. But with Rockstar’s signature twist: most likely, this won’t be a romantic crime fairy tale, but a dirty, loud, and satirical story about people trying to claw their way to the top while sinking ever deeper into the chaos of the state of Leonida.

GTA 6 New Map

The GTA 6 map features Vice City and the state of Leonida (a fictional version of Florida). Based on published materials, the world will extend far beyond a single city. The trailers already show several zones with fundamentally different characteristics:

  • Vice City: neon, money, beaches, and ostentatious luxury — a familiar atmosphere for those who remember the original Vice City;
  • Leonida Keys: islands, water, boats, and a smuggling spirit;
  • Grassrivers: swamps, backwoods, and local flavor;
  • Port Gellhorn: the industrial and port area of the state;
  • Mount Kalaga National Park: nature, roads, forests, and off-road terrain.

This is fundamentally larger than a single city. Compared to GTA 5, where Los Santos was great but still limited, Rockstar is clearly aiming for something comparable to the Red Dead Redemption 2 map in terms of biome diversity and experiences.

GTA 6 System Requirements

The GTA 6 system requirements for PC have not been officially published, and the reason is simple: GTA 6 on PC has not been officially announced. At launch, the game is releasing only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC owners will have to wait again, just as they did with GTA V, which came to PC a year and a half after the console release.

No need to think about GTA 6 on PC just yet

GTA 6 requirements for consoles haven’t been revealed either: the game is being developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so the hardware of these platforms serves as the default minimum bar. The RAGE 9 engine powering the game promises a significant leap in visual quality and world behavior — this will demand serious resources.

If the question “can my system run GTA 6” is relevant to you, for now you can assume that any modern powerful console or PC with a GPU at the RTX 4070 level or above should theoretically handle it. But wait for official specs closer to the PC release — likely no earlier than 2027-2028.

The question about GTA 6 on mobile comes up surprisingly often. There is no mobile version and none is expected in the coming years: the game runs on a next-generation engine and requires console-level hardware.
