The new realme P4 follows the same path, but with a smaller battery and a lower price. I managed to get my hands on the smartphone before the official sales launch — sharing my first impressions. There’s no full review yet, just real-life impressions from the first day.

What Is the realme P4 and How Much Does It Cost

The realme P4 is a budget smartphone focused on battery life and smooth performance. It’s not a flagship and doesn’t claim to have the best camera — realme is honest about that. The main idea: 120 Hz works smoothly, the battery is huge, and the price is reasonable.

In Russia, the newcomer will be available on July 14. realme has already announced that the retail price will be 16,999 rubles. But rumor has it there will be a surprise at launch, so there’s a reason to wait for the official release.

For that money — a silicon-carbon 7000 mAh battery, an AMOLED screen, and 120 Hz. A package that just a couple of years ago would have cost twice as much.

Unboxing the realme P4 — What’s Inside the Box

The signature yellow realme box — recognizable and bright. Inside there’s a pleasant surprise: a transparent textured case with embossed stripes is already included. That’s a rarity for a budget phone.

The package is honest and sufficient — nothing extra, but everything you need is there. Additionally, a screen protector film is already neatly applied to the display, just the way we like it.

realme P4 Design — Beautiful but Big

I have the realme P4 smartphone in Racing Purple (purple with stripes along the back). It looks fresh and unconventional for the budget segment, where everything is usually gray or black, plus the body is protected from dust and splashes with IP65 rating.

But I’ll be honest: this smartphone is too big for me. I’m used to compact phones. The realme P4 dimensions are 164.4×78×9.09 mm, 205 grams. It’s wide and angular, uncomfortable to hold with one hand. The included case slightly softens the sharp edges but makes the smartphone even bulkier. If you’re used to such sizes — no complaints. My hand has already gotten used to something smaller.

A Smartphone With a Very Bright Screen

A smartphone with a bright screen — that’s the realme P4 without exaggeration. The 6.8-inch AMOLED with a claimed peak brightness of up to 4000 nits looks excellent even in direct sunlight. Colors are vibrant, blacks are true — as expected from an AMOLED.

The 120 Hz is subjectively noticeable — scrolling through feeds feels pleasant. During the first day of testing, the interface ran smoothly without any drops.
But I’ll be honest: the bezels are noticeable, and the chin at the bottom is pronounced. This is not a bezel-less flagship — a typical story for its price range.

A Smartphone With a 7000 mAh Battery — First Impressions

The main selling point of this smartphone with a big battery is the Titan silicon-carbon battery with 7000 mAh capacity. The technology degrades slower compared to regular lithium-ion batteries (realme promises 1600 cycles).

The capacity reserve is immediately noticeable after the first power-on — even the lengthy initial setup with all syncs and data transfers didn’t drop the charge below 50% from the 64% out of the box. An impressive result, but a proper conclusion requires more time — I’ll leave the detailed test for the full review. What else is important to note about the battery:

  • 45W charging (included in the box);
  • 10W reverse charging (you can charge earbuds or a watch from the smartphone);
  • 5 minutes of charging gives approximately 37 minutes of gaming according to realme.

How the realme P4 Performs

The realme P4 specs reveal a Snapdragon 685 processor. This is a budget and already not-so-new chip — the same one was in the realme 12 from 2024. In everyday tasks it works fine, but nothing to brag about.

What I didn’t like:

  • occasional micro-freezes (the processor doesn’t hide its class);
  • the fingerprint scanner is built into the screen, recognizes accurately, but unlocks slowly;
  • the vibration motor is budget-grade (buzzy);
  • single mono speaker.

The firmware is realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15. And this surprised me: many realme smartphones have already been updated to realme UI 7.0 with Android 16. Why the P4 launched on the previous version is unclear. An update will come, but not immediately.

Is It Worth Waiting for the realme P4 Release

The realme P4 is a smartphone with a powerful battery and a bright screen for a fair price. The design is interesting, the package is generous, and the battery is impressive.
