I’ve already talked about the wireless charger I’ve been using since last fall, and it still lives on my desk. But a single iPhone stand hasn’t been enough for a long time. My MacBook Air, Apple Watch, AirPods, Nintendo Switch, and tablet are always nearby, and each one needs its own adapter and cable. As a result, a whole tangle of power bricks accumulated under my desk that I’d kick about ten times a day. So I got a UGREEN 200-watt desktop charging station with eight ports and finally sorted out that mess of cables. Here’s how it turned out.

UGREEN Nexode 200W: Specs and What’s in the Box

The model is called UGREEN 200W GaN, and it’s a genuine desktop charging block with eight outputs: six USB-C ports and two USB-A. It’s built on gallium nitride — the same GaN technology that makes the charger compact despite its serious power output. In the box you get the unit itself, a separate stand for vertical placement, and a thick power cable with grounding. I have the version with a European plug, so I didn’t need to buy any adapters.

The box includes the charger itself, the cable, and a vertical stand

The first thing you notice when you pick up the station is the weight. It’s an honest 664 grams, which is unexpectedly heavy for its size. The feel is immediately satisfying — you can tell there’s substance inside. The bottom is rubberized, so it sits rock-solid on the desk and doesn’t slide around even when you tug on cables. It has RoHS, FCC, and European CE certifications, and the manufacturer provides a two-year warranty.

Simultaneously Charging a Laptop, Smartphone, and Other Gadgets

In practice, the station covered almost all my gadgets at once. In the morning, it simultaneously holds my MacBook Air and iPhone 16 Plus, with my watch and earbuds charging nearby, and there’s still a free port left for a tablet. Express shipping from China arrived in just a few days; the package came in UGREEN’s branded bubble wrap with the box intact and cable in place. There’s nothing to assemble or set up — just plug it in and use it. Under heavy load, the body gets noticeably warm but doesn’t get scorching hot, which is normal for GaN at full output.

You can connect up to 8 devices simultaneously

I was particularly pleased that the station easily handles even my old work laptop, which needs a serious 100-watt adapter. Essentially, it’s a full replacement for all the chargers for the tech on my desk, and the cables have finally stopped tangling into one knot. When I head to the countryside, I take the whole thing with me: one little box instead of five power bricks in my bag.

How Power Is Distributed Among USB-C Ports

Now about the ports themselves — there are eight of them. Six are USB-C labeled C1–C6, and two are standard USB-A called A1 and A2. Power is distributed unevenly among them, and it’s good to know this in advance. When only one cable is plugged into the station, the top-tier C1, C2, and C3 each deliver 100 watts, which is more than enough even for power-hungry laptops. Ports C4 and C5 provide 30 watts each, while C6 along with both USB-A ports deliver 15 watts each. I hang small accessories like a monitor light bar or headphones on the lower-tier outputs.

The unit takes up virtually no space on the desk

Once all eight outputs are occupied simultaneously, the total 200 watts are divided among devices. In this mode, the top C1 delivers 65 watts, C2 and C3 deliver 45 watts each, and the smaller ports get much more modest shares. To avoid keeping all this in my head, I compiled both scenarios into a single table straight from the UGREEN manual:

PortSingle active portAll 8 ports occupied
C1100W65W
C2100W45W
C3100W45W
C430W7.5W
C530W7.5W
C615W5W
A1 (USB-A)15W5W
A2 (USB-A)15W5W

The power is best demonstrated by real-world charging speed. Based on my measurements, in 28 minutes of charging, the iPhone 16 Plus reaches 58 percent, the MacBook Air hits 50%, and the iPad 10 gets to 38%. That means in one short coffee break, the smartphone gets more than half its battery — an impressive result for a block that’s simultaneously feeding seven other devices. Of course, the outcome depends on how many watts the gadget itself can accept.

But personally, what I liked most was another small detail. This unit features seamless load distribution: you plug in one gadget, then another, and charging doesn’t drop out for even a second. With lower-tier models like the Nexode 65W, power briefly cuts off when you add a device, but here that doesn’t happen at all. There’s one nuance I caught myself: with three or more connected devices, the voltage on the ports fluctuates slightly. It barely affects actual charging speed, but it’s worth knowing about.
