Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has released its iconic action game Control on iPhone and iPad. For a mere $4.99, you get the full version of the game with all expansions, revamped controls, and ray tracing support right on iPhone. But there’s a catch — the game is not available in the Russian App Store.

Control is now on iPhone
Control’s Story — What the Game Is About
In 2019, Control became one of the defining games of its generation. A dark atmosphere, insane destruction physics, and telekinesis you never wanted to stop using. The game collected over 80 awards, and Remedy became one of the most respected studios in the industry afterward. And now all of this can be launched right on an iPhone.
On April 22, 2026, Control Ultimate Edition appeared in the App Store. This is not a stripped-down mobile version or cloud streaming — it’s a full-fledged port with both expansions, The Foundation and AWE. The game costs just $4.99, which for a project of this caliber looks almost suspiciously cheap.

The game is quite dark in places
You play as Jesse Faden, who arrives at the Federal Bureau of Control — a secret government organization studying paranormal phenomena. But instead of a quiet day at work, she finds herself at the epicenter of an invasion by an otherworldly force known as the Hiss.
The Bureau is located in a building called the Oldest House — and it’s not just an office. The building has a life of its own: rooms rearrange themselves, corridors lead nowhere, and anything could be behind each door. Jesse becomes the new Director of the Bureau and receives the Service Weapon — a mystical pistol that transforms into different forms.
Alongside the fight against the Hiss, the heroine searches for her missing brother Dylan, who has been connected to the Bureau since childhood. The story is delivered through documents, audio recordings, and live-action video clips — Remedy’s signature style, familiar from Alan Wake and Max Payne.
Two expansions extend the story. The Foundation sends Jesse into the underground beneath the Oldest House, while AWE connects the Control universe with Alan Wake — another iconic Remedy hero.
What Changed in the Mobile Version of Control
Remedy didn’t just port the game to iPhone — the studio seriously reworked the interface and controls for touchscreens. Here’s what was adapted:

Controls adapted for touchscreens
- Completely new touch controls with improved auto-aim
- Redesigned HUD that’s readable even on smaller screens
- Updated puzzles adapted for touch
- Support for Bluetooth controllers for those not willing to put up with virtual sticks
The mobile version fully leverages Apple Silicon technologies. MetalFX Upscaling handles image quality, MetalFX Frame Interpolation handles smoothness, and on supported devices, hardware ray tracing with enhanced reflections and lighting is available. For a mobile game, this sounds almost unreal, but it’s a fact — the Oldest House looks impressive on an iPhone screen.
The file size deserves special mention: the game takes up about 45 GB. This is one of the heaviest titles in the App Store, so make sure your device has enough free space before downloading.
Which iPhones and iPads Are Supported
System requirements are quite strict — after all, this is a full-fledged AAA action game. You need an A17 Pro chip or newer, as well as iOS 26.1. Here’s the full list of compatible devices:

Minimum entry point for Control: iPhone 15 Pro
iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16e, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air.
iPad: any iPad with an M-series or A17 Pro chip — that includes iPad Air starting from the 5th generation, all iPad Pro models with M1 chip and newer, as well as iPad mini with A17 Pro.
A regular iPad with an A16 chip won’t run the game. For comparison: in 2019, Control required a GPU at the GTX 1060 level and drew complaints about optimization even on powerful PCs. The fact that today it runs on a smartphone is a clear demonstration of Apple’s mobile hardware progress.
How to Download Control on iPhone in Russia
The main problem for Russian users is that the game isn’t in our App Store. Remedy chose not to publish Control in the Russian region, so simply finding and buying it the usual way won’t work.
There are two options. The first is to change your Apple ID region to the US or any European country. The second is to create a second Apple ID in the needed region and use it only for the App Store. Switching would then work like this:
- Open the App Store on your iPhone and tap your avatar in the top right corner;
tap your name and at the very bottom tap “Sign Out”; - Sign in with your foreign Apple ID and top up the balance with an Apple gift card;
- Go to the Control Ultimate Edition page in the App Store and purchase the game.

Download Control to your device
Keep in mind that you’ll need to download 45 GB, so make sure to connect to Wi-Fi. An important bonus: Control is a universal purchase. Once you buy the game, you can run it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac without additional payments.
