Good fitness watches have long stopped being the privilege of expensive brands — and the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is yet another proof of that. The moment you put them on your wrist, you get that familiar feeling: a lightweight titanium case, a bright screen, premium build quality. I used the Fit 5 Pro as my main watch — and here are my impressions.

Talking about the new Huawei watch

How the New Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro Looks

The design, in my opinion, is executed brilliantly. In appearance, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro distinctly resembles the Apple Watch Ultra, only thinner and lighter: the case is just 9.5 mm thick, and the weight without the strap is 30.4 grams. The Huawei watch sits perfectly on the wrist and doesn’t get in the way at all — I specifically tested it during a workout, and it’s comfortable to use, nothing presses or catches. Neither during strength training, nor during cardio, nor during everyday wear. Although there is one nuance I’ll mention a bit later.

Sits perfectly on the wrist, doesn’t get in the way, doesn’t distract

In terms of materials, everything is serious: a titanium bezel, an aluminum case, and sapphire glass with a slight 2.5D curve. I believe that for this price, such a combination is rare — typically titanium and sapphire are found in much more expensive models. Orange, white, and black versions are available.

Screen and Battery Life of Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro

The bright screen particularly impressed me. It features a 1.92-inch AMOLED display with LTPO support and a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz. Everything is clearly visible in sunny weather. My only complaint: in the dark, the brightness is, in my opinion, too high — if you turn on the watch in the middle of the night, it can be uncomfortable.

Very thin watch. And the curved side is a nice touch

A note about the size: the screen here is huge, largely thanks to the thin bezels, which make it seem unrealistically large. For men and anyone with larger fingers, this is a plus — navigating menus is easy, no difficulties. But to me, the dimensions almost always seemed excessive, and I never decided whether it’s a plus or a minus. You’re not going to watch movies on a watch anyway, so I’d make the screen a bit smaller — it would be more comfortable and harder to break.

My personal opinion: the screen is too big. What do you need all that space for — I don’t know

The battery life situation is more interesting than what’s promised. The manufacturer claims up to 10 days of use, but I found that it all depends on the settings. If you turn off extras — calls, constant monitoring — and reduce the brightness, the watch easily lasts 2 weeks. I tested this personally, and for me the result is excellent, especially compared to Apple Watch. A full wireless charge takes about an hour.

Smart Watch for Sports with Accurate GPS

The main reason people buy such watches is sports, and here the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, in my opinion, performs superbly. There are many workout modes, a voice assistant with audio feedback (I turned it off, though), a food diary, and even mini-workouts for those who lead a sedentary lifestyle. Everything is done organically — I’ve only seen something similar on Apple Watch and Xiaomi.

Workouts for those who lead a sedentary lifestyle. That’s something new!

I want to specifically highlight the accurate GPS — and that matters if you run outdoors. During my time using it, I didn’t encounter a single glitch, freeze, or disconnection — positioning works flawlessly. The optical heart rate monitor also didn’t let me down, and battery consumption during workouts stays within reasonable limits. There are also over a hundred sports modes with 5 ATM water resistance for swimming.

For workouts, this watch is perfect

But the strongest feature of the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is NFC payments. I didn’t set it up personally because I don’t see the need, but I’m sure users in Russia will definitely approve — in the current conditions, this is a genuinely valuable feature. Moreover, the NFC module here isn’t like on other watches where it only works for opening cars, doors, and generally only in China. In my opinion, this is truly the best feature of the Huawei watch, making it more attractive than 90% of competitors.

Is the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro Worth Buying?

Often the main downside of Huawei watches cited is the closed ecosystem — supposedly there are few decent third-party apps, and installation goes through AppGallery bypassing Play Market. But I think that’s nonsense. Third-party apps on a watch aren’t really necessary — you have a phone for all that. I’ve already been through this with Apple Watch, where you can download tons of software from the App Store, and in practice I didn’t end up using a single one. So look at the functionality, not the app catalog — and here it’s top-notch.
