In return, the platform promised to split its audience into age-based modes by the end of June. Two formats will appear: Roblox Kids for younger users and Roblox Select for older ones. The logic is simple: content will no longer be dumped on everyone indiscriminately but will be tailored to the age of the profile. On top of that, Roblox added extra tools against dangerous materials and inappropriate behavior in games.
What’s most curious is something else. The company essentially admitted that its old child protection system didn’t work. The Ministry of Digital Development specifically emphasized this fact. For a foreign service, the wording is harsh: usually such things are covered up with vague press releases, and right after the Roblox ban, the company denied all accusations. If they acknowledged the problem openly, it means they genuinely made concessions.

Let’s rewind. Access to the platform was shut down on December 3, 2025. The reason was content dangerous for children: according to Roskomnadzor, the platform promoted a movement banned in the country. The developers quickly reported that they were ready to work with the regulator to resolve the issue.
But then silence fell for almost six months. In January, Roskomnadzor bluntly stated: there would be no unblocking. And this despite Roblox having already disabled voice and text chats for Russian users and rolled out age verification worldwide. The regulator found that insufficient, since in its assessment, the age verification system essentially didn’t work, and what was needed was consistent moderation, not cosmetic one-off gestures. Against that backdrop, the agencies’ latest appeal looks like a genuine breakthrough.

Now about workarounds, since this question comes up from every other person. Roblox has started handing out bans for spoofing geolocation. Under the platform’s rules, hiding your real location to gain illegal access is prohibited, and there’s only one punishment: losing your account. So sneaking into the game through back doors means risking all your saved progress at once. On iPhone, it’s wiser to take a different route: set up Screen Time and age limits in the App Store so your child can safely enter the game legally as soon as it’s officially opened.
When Will Roblox Work Again in Russia

The tone of the news is positive, but it’s too early to celebrate. Throughout this entire period, this is the first instance where both agencies are unanimously pushing for unblocking rather than stamping out rejections. The downside is also obvious: Roblox’s timelines and reality haven’t matched before — back in winter they promised to sort things out in a couple of months, but nothing came of it.
Without the emotions, here’s the picture. The dialogue has reached a decisive point, and the likelihood of seeing Roblox in Russia again is now at its highest in the entire six months of downtime. But until an official signal comes about the lifting of restrictions, there’s no need to rush to VPNs or believe other people’s posts saying “everything will work tomorrow.” When access is truly restored, both the Ministry of Digital Development and Roskomnadzor will report it. That’s when we’ll celebrate a real comeback, not just talk of intentions.
