At WWDC 2026, Apple announced not only the iOS 27 operating system for iPhones but also finally showed the very Siri it had been promising for two years. The new Siri got its own dedicated app, a dark interface based on Dynamic Island, and on-screen context understanding. Along with it, Apple updated Apple Intelligence and integrated AI into system apps: from Safari to the Phone app. Here’s what actually changes everyday usage and what should still be taken with caution.

What Changed in Siri with iOS 27
The main news — Siri is no longer just a voice assistant. Mike Rockwell, VP of Siri development, demonstrated the updated assistant, which runs on Apple Intelligence AI and received a dedicated Siri app. According to Apple, the assistant has become noticeably smarter and better understands what you want from it.
Visually, Siri has also changed. The colorful glow around the edges of the screen gave way to a Dynamic Island-based interface with a dark theme. On iPhone, the assistant is invoked by swiping down on Dynamic Island or through the usual activation methods. The key improvement is on-screen context understanding. During the demo, Siri answered a question about a place from an Instagram post right from the screen, and also figured out which contact was being referred to without clarification in the request. Essentially, these are the very features Apple showed back at WWDC 2024 and originally planned for iOS 18.

There are also nice touches: Siri’s voice can now be customized not only by choosing from preset options but also with parameters like pace and expressiveness. A “Write with Siri” feature appeared — assistance with writing texts. The improved Siri also works in CarPlay and via AirPods.
How Siri Works on Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro
On Mac, Siri is now integrated into Spotlight search, received a dedicated app and finally a monochrome icon in the menu bar instead of the colorful one. This makes sense for those who are used to launching everything through search rather than by voice.
Siri AI has also come to watchOS 27 on Apple Watch. On Apple Vision Pro, Siri became a floating sphere that activates with a simple glance — without a voice wake command.
Apple separately emphasizes privacy: conversations with Siri sync between devices via iCloud in encrypted form. This is important for those who worry about personal data when working with AI.
Siri in the Camera App and Other New Scenarios
One of the most notable innovations — a Siri mode is built right into the new Camera app in iOS 27 as a separate shooting mode. Through it, you can, for example, split a restaurant bill by pointing the camera or add multiple events to the calendar by pointing the lens at a poster.

System-level features were also added: automatic text proofreading across the entire system, and “Write with Siri” learns how you communicate with specific people. Visual Intelligence with Siri also comes to visionOS 27.
Which Apps Got Apple Intelligence in iOS 27
Apple integrated AI into several system apps in iOS. The most useful in daily life:
- Safari automatically groups tabs by topics that update as you browse, and lets you close or move tabs by these topics;
- Safari got a Notify Me feature — tracking changes on a specific page using natural language requests;
- The Passwords app can update multiple passwords with a single tap;
- Messages suggests creating a reminder or note and finds photos mentioned in conversations;
- Calendar creates events from natural language descriptions, including contacts and locations;
- Phone suggests relevant information during a call — for example, a flight booking number when calling an airline;
Apple separately notes that data processing in the Phone app happens directly on the device, without being sent to the cloud.
When Will Siri on iOS 27 Be Released
The main limitation you should know right away: the new Siri will initially launch only in English and will add other languages later. Apple hasn’t given specific timelines for Russian language support, so we’ll most likely have to wait. The wait could potentially be several years.

This is worth keeping in mind: for now, some of the demonstrations with context understanding and voice scenarios will only work in English. Apple traditionally stretches out the timelines for language expansion.
Is It Worth Waiting for iOS 27 with the New Siri
In short — the most interesting Siri features are tied to the English language, so excitement is premature for now in non-English markets. System improvements like tab grouping in Safari, password updates, and suggestions in Calendar and Phone will be useful to almost all owners of compatible devices.
For those who have long been waiting for a “smart” Siri with screen understanding, it’s worth taking a closer look — but with the caveat that Apple promised these features two years ago and kept postponing them. It’s worth waiting for real-world tests and the addition of more languages before drawing conclusions about how much better the assistant has become in practice.
