Samsung quietly announced two new A-series devices at once. And the word “quietly” is no accident here: there was no big presentation, and the Koreans didn’t hold a press conference. It makes sense — there isn’t much to brag about. The Samsung Galaxy A37 and its older sibling represent a minor update to last year’s Galaxy A36 and A56, which came out in early 2025 and have long been on sale in Russia. At the same time, the prices for the new models have noticeably increased, which raises a logical question for buyers: why overpay at all?

How Galaxy A37 Differs from Galaxy A36

In short: not much. A Galaxy A36 vs Galaxy A37 comparison shows that the Koreans made exactly two fundamental changes. The first is the chipset swap: instead of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, there’s now an Exynos 1480, which according to the manufacturer is 12% faster in CPU and 19% faster in GPU than its predecessor. The second change is far more important for those who lead an active lifestyle: water resistance has been upgraded from IP67 to IP68.

The Galaxy A37 phone can now withstand submersion at a depth of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, rather than just being protected from accidental water exposure. Everything else remains the same: the same Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the same 5000 mAh battery, and the same 45W charging. The devices can only be visually distinguished by the bezels around the display — they’re slightly thicker on the Galaxy A37. The processor switch from Qualcomm to Samsung’s own chip raises questions: Exynos traditionally loses to Snapdragon in real-world performance under load due to more aggressive throttling, and it’s better not to rely on the paper-spec 12-19% improvement here.

How Galaxy A57 Differs from Galaxy A56

There are slightly more changes here. In addition to the water resistance upgrade from IP67 to IP68, a Galaxy A56 vs Galaxy A57 comparison reveals a new Exynos 1680 processor replacing the Exynos 1580 — the CPU performance improvement is about 15%. The display type has also been updated: instead of regular Super AMOLED, it’s now Super AMOLED+, which means higher brightness and improved color accuracy. The body has also become noticeably thinner: 6.9 mm versus 7.4 mm for its predecessor.

The Galaxy A57 phone also received Bluetooth 6.0 instead of 5.3, which in practice means a more stable connection with wireless accessories. In all other respects, the smartphones are identical: the same cameras, the same battery, the same charging, the same software shell. Both smartphones will come with One UI 8.5 with new features out of the box, and Samsung promises six years of Android updates — one of the best records on the market among Android devices.

Galaxy AI on the New Samsung Smartphones

Both smartphones support Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI neural network features. These include Circle to Search for instantly searching any object right from the screen, Object Eraser for removing unwanted elements from photos, and Live Translate for real-time call translation. These are the very capabilities that were previously available only in Galaxy S-series flagships, and now they’re gradually making their way down to the mid-range segment.

The Galaxy A57 specifications allow for an extended set of AI features: Nightography for enhanced night photography and Best Face for automatically selecting the best shot in group photos. Competitors among Chinese manufacturers are also actively implementing artificial intelligence in their devices. However, there are things where Samsung is still better than Chinese smartphones — and Galaxy AI is on that list.
