Love unusual smartphones? The London-registered company Nothing certainly does. On March 5, it unveiled the new Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, which became a relatively budget-friendly continuation of the eye-catching but quite expensive flagship Nothing Phone (3). Unlike the senior model, the unusual design here is paired with an adequate price and interesting specs.

Nothing Phone (4a) Smartphone Design

The Nothing Phone (4a) design is almost identical to the look of the Nothing Phone (3a), which was introduced a year earlier. As before, the camera module is positioned horizontally, but instead of the familiar Glyph lighting on the back, the 2026 smartphone uses a new one — Glyph Bar.

These are vertically arranged LEDs on the back that are used for notification indicators, progress display, and other useful things like showing the battery charge level.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro design looks even more interesting. Instead of the Glyph Bar on the back, it features a matrix Glyph Matrix display, borrowed from last year’s Nothing Phone (3) flagship. It can also serve as an indicator, but additionally it can display various simple images.

Despite belonging to the same series, visually the Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro are different smartphones that differ not only in design but also in specifications.

Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro Specifications

In terms of price classification, both smartphones are mid-range, which is reflected in the Nothing Phone (4a) specifications. Both models use fast but not the most powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processors, and while their cameras are functionally interesting, they are not without compromises.

Although the smartphones use completely different design approaches, the only truly important difference between the Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is the processor.
