It used to be simple with iPhones: want to save money — get the SE, want a flagship — buy the Pro or Pro Max, everything else falls in between. But in 2026, Apple broke that pattern. The iPhone 17e at $599 and the iPhone Air at $999 turned out to be ridiculously similar. They shoot on the same camera and charge with the same MagSafe puck, yet somehow cost different amounts. And $400 is nothing to sneeze at.

But that’s all in dollars. In rubles, the situation is even more interesting. Even the official prices for the iPhone 17e in Russia turned out to be so attractive that you can’t help but wonder whether it’s worth overpaying for other iPhone models.

How iPhone 17e Differs from iPhone Air

The cameras are identical. Battery life differs by an hour. USB is the same. The difference hides in three places.
Display. The Air has 120 Hz ProMotion and 3000-nit brightness. The 17e has 60 Hz and 1200 nits. Anyone who’s used ProMotion understands: going back to 60 Hz is like switching from automatic to manual transmission. You can do it, but why would you. In sunlight, 3000 nits vs 1200 is no small thing either — the difference is visible to the naked eye.
Body. Titanium at 5.64 mm thick vs aluminum at 7.8 mm. In hand, the iPhone Air feels like a device from a different price category. Which, well, it is.
Camera Control. A physical button for camera control — only available on the Air. If you shoot a lot, it’s genuinely convenient. If the camera is something you use once a week to photograph food, you won’t notice.
Everything else is statistical nuance. The A19 Pro is slightly more powerful than the regular A19, MagSafe charges 5 W faster, Wi-Fi 7 instead of 6. In practice, you won’t feel the difference.
How Much Do iPhone 17e and iPhone Air Cost in Russia

Pre-orders for the 17e have already opened on M.Video
Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e have already launched on M.Video. Naturally, the models are coming through parallel imports as usual. But initially, we expect smartphone shortages due to the situation in Dubai. The iPhone 17e will appear on Ozon and Yandex Market a bit later, and prices there should be more attractive. For now, here’s how things stand:

You can easily buy the iPhone Air on marketplaces
- iPhone 17e 256 GB — 64,990 ₽
- iPhone 17e 512 GB — 84,990 ₽
- iPhone Air 256 GB — 82,000 ₽ including customs duty
- iPhone Air 512 GB — 104,000 ₽ including customs duty
In rubles, the difference between the base versions is almost 20,000. That’s enough to buy AirPods Pro.
A note: in February 2026, Rosakkreditatsiya suspended recognition of certificates from bodies in Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan — around 16,000 documents for Apple products are affected. There are no disruptions yet, but if you see a good price — don’t hesitate.
