According to industry expert estimates, the price difference between an original and a fake screen ranges from 1,100 to 1,150 yuan per device. The scammer doesn’t even need to spend their own money on buying the phone: after the return, the funds go back to their account.
Simply put, the entire “investment” is the cost of a cheap screen and the labor to install it. And the output is a premium-class original display that’s easy to sell.
How Apple Inspects iPhones During Returns
On March 10, journalists reached out to Apple’s technical support service for comment. The company’s response was quite categorical. An Apple representative confirmed that the 14-day return policy does indeed exist and that customers can return a device if they’re not satisfied. But there’s an important condition.
Every returned product undergoes a mandatory inspection at the warehouse. The device must show no signs of damage, and opening the case and replacing components is classified as damage. Only after a successful inspection, within 3–5 business days, does the customer receive their refund.
