Starting April 1, 2026, mobile carrier billing for Apple ID stopped working in Russia — and gift cards on marketplaces instantly surged 3–4 times in price. A promo code with a face value of 1,000 rubles now costs 3,600 rubles on Yandex Market and 90,000 rubles on Ozon. The only widely available way to top up an Apple ID balance has turned into a scarce commodity with a massive markup.

Why Apple ID Gift Cards in Russia Have Tripled in Price
On the morning of April 1, Apple ID top-up gift cards on all major marketplaces sharply increased in price. On Yandex Market, a 1,000-ruble promo code costs 3,645 rubles, a 2,000-ruble one costs 5,800 rubles, and a 9,000-ruble one costs 17,614 rubles. On Ozon, the only active listing left is a 1,000-ruble card — for 90,369 rubles.

The price on Ozon is shocking
On Wildberries the situation is slightly better, but markups are still multiples of the face value:
- 500 ₽ promo code — for 2,197 ₽
- 900 ₽ promo code — for 3,105 ₽
- 2,000 ₽ promo code — for 6,347 ₽
- 5,000 ₽ promo code — for 12,109 ₽
Just yesterday, all these cards cost only slightly above face value. A 15–25% markup was the norm — now we’re talking about overpaying 200–300%, and in Ozon’s case, completely absurd figures.
Why Apple ID Top-Up via Mobile Billing No Longer Works
The reason for the price surge is simple: starting April 1, 2026, Russian mobile carriers disabled the ability to top up Apple ID from a mobile phone balance. The decision was made at the level of the Ministry of Digital Development — on March 28, during a meeting with the “Big Four” carriers (MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, T2), they were instructed to discontinue support for this payment channel.

Why Apple ID gift cards in Russia have tripled in price
To understand the scale: after Apple stopped accepting Russian bank cards in 2022, mobile billing became essentially the primary way for millions of people in Russia to top up their Apple ID. Now this channel is shut down.
Two official reasons are cited: pressure on Apple to restore removed Russian apps to the App Store, and an effort to make it harder to pay for VPN services through the Apple ecosystem. Experts note, however, that the measure is unlikely to affect VPN usage — these services accept payments on their own websites as well.
Why There Are Few Apple ID Gift Cards in Russia and Whether New Ones Will Appear
The main problem is not just prices, but scarcity. According to sources, it is now technically impossible to create new gift cards for Russian Apple ID. What is currently being sold on marketplaces are leftover stocks from previously purchased batches. When they run out, topping up a Russian Apple ID via cards may become fundamentally impossible.

Stocks of Apple gift cards for the Russian region are running out fast
This explains why sellers have jacked up prices: the product is finite, demand has skyrocketed, and there are no new shipments to expect. A classic speculative situation.
How to Top Up Apple ID in Russia After April 1, 2026
If you have a Russian Apple ID and are used to paying via mobile billing, there are few options left:
- Gift cards on marketplaces — still available for now, but with a huge markup. Choose sellers with high ratings and read reviews — there are many scammers in the gift code market.
- Specialized online services — a number of platforms sell top-up codes for rubles via SBP (Fast Payment System). The markup is usually lower than on marketplaces, but it’s important to verify the reputation of the specific seller.
- Changing your Apple ID region — you can switch your account to the US, Turkey, or Kazakhstan and buy gift cards for the corresponding region. This is a working but more complex path: you need a card from the respective country or a code specifically for the region you’re switching to. It’s important to remember that changing regions may cause you to lose access to previously purchased apps that are unavailable in the new store.
- Foreign bank card — a card from Kazakhstan, Turkey, or another country linked to your Apple ID solves the problem long-term. But obtaining such a card from Russia is a separate challenge.
What Will Happen to Apple Subscriptions — iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV+
If you were paying for subscriptions via mobile billing, they won’t be cut off immediately — they simply won’t renew at the end of the current paid period. After that, the service will stop working.
The most critical situation is with iCloud. If you have a paid plan (50 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB) and the subscription doesn’t renew, Apple gives you 30 days to download your data. Syncing stops immediately, however. If you have photos, documents, and backups stored in the cloud — this is a reason to act fast.

Without a paid subscription, iCloud will stop syncing data
Apple Music, Apple TV+, and other subscriptions are less critical — losing them doesn’t threaten your personal data. But if you’ve built a large library in Apple Music, keep in mind: playlists and collections will be preserved and will become available again once you resubscribe.
Is It Worth Buying Apple Gift Cards at Inflated Prices
Buying a 1,000-ruble card for 3,600 — let alone 90,000 — is a questionable decision. But if it’s about preserving your iCloud data or renewing a critically important subscription and there are no other options, cards from Wildberries look like the least insane option available. The markup on a 5,000-ruble card there is about 142% — a lot, but at least not 90 times the face value.
Before purchasing, make sure the code matches your Apple ID region. If your account is registered in Russia, you need a Russian code specifically. An American or Turkish one won’t activate.
For those without an urgent need, it’s wiser to wait: the market has only just begun to adjust, and within a few days more reasonable offers from specialized services may appear. And for those ready for a more radical step, it makes sense to consider changing your Apple ID region — this will solve the payment problem going forward, though it will require time and attention.
