Honestly, I’ve always been a bit skeptical about air fryers. It seemed like they were just a trendy oven for lazy people that takes up counter space and does roughly the same thing as regular convection in a standard oven. I also have unpleasant memories of picking up shards from a shattered giant glass air fryer bowl about 15 years ago. Since then, I hadn’t dealt with such appliances. But then the COSORI TurboBlaze Smart Air Fryer in Cream color landed in my hands, and I had to reconsider my views. This is an air fryer with a DC motor, 9 main cooking modes, and — importantly — high build quality. So let me tell you what it’s all about.

An air fryer can replace an oven, a frying pan, and sometimes even a pot.

What’s Included with the COSORI TurboBlaze Air Fryer

The package contents are simple and no-frills. Inside the box you’ll find the air fryer itself, a removable crisper plate with non-stick coating, an instruction manual, and a book with 30 chef-created recipes. The book, by the way, is not just a token gesture — it’s a working collection with step-by-step instructions that can help you prepare restaurant-quality dishes. If you’ve never used an air fryer before, it’s an excellent starting point. It doesn’t include Russian yet, but the brand will soon be officially sold in Russia, and everything including the packaging, instructions, and recipes will be localized in Russian.

Included are hint stickers and a recipe book.

The top panel has plenty of touch buttons. They’re intuitive and you won’t have any trouble figuring them out. When you turn on the device for the first time, understanding how it works will be straightforward. On the back of the unit there’s a cable management holder. In practice, this turned out to be very convenient: the cord doesn’t dangle or get in the way when the air fryer sits on the counter between uses. It seems like an elementary thing, but far from all manufacturers think about it.

The cable holder on the back lets you wrap the cord so it doesn’t just hang loose.

First Impressions of the COSORI TurboBlaze Air Fryer

When you take the COSORI TurboBlaze out of the box, the first thing you notice is the build quality. I’ll be honest — I expected something more “plasticky,” but no. The body in a pleasant cream color with a SoftTouch coating looks stylish. No creaks, no wobbles, no cheap seams. The air fryer looks neat and you wouldn’t be embarrassed to place it somewhere visible.

The “created by women” inscription says a lot about the seriousness of the approach.

The dimensions are compact: 30×36.5×30.1 cm including the handle. It weighs about 5.2 kg. You need to leave about 13–15 cm behind it for ventilation, but that’s standard. The square-shaped 6-liter basket with non-stick coating is enough to prepare a meal for the whole family in 20 minutes — from a whole chicken to a holiday dinner. The rack is secured with silicone feet that prevent it from sliding and scratching the bottom. The basket handle has a locking button so nothing falls out.

The basket pulls out from the front. Just press the button and pull toward you.

The control panel is positioned on top at an angle, providing comfortable pressing and good readability. The buttons are large and responsive — even someone without the sharpest eyesight will find them easy to use. No need to squint or tap blindly, and the start button is even outlined with an orange rectangle. The touch panel does collect fingerprints like a magnet, but that’s the downside of a glossy finish.

What Cooking Modes Does the COSORI TurboBlaze Have

The COSORI TurboBlaze offers 9 cooking modes plus preheating:

  • Air Fry (hot air frying)
  • Roast (roasting)
  • Broil (grilling)
  • Bake (baking)
  • Dehydrate (dehydrating)
  • Proof (dough proofing)
  • Frozen (cooking from frozen)
  • Reheat (reheating)
  • Keep Warm (maintaining temperature)
  • Preheat (preheating)

All of this works thanks to a DC motor with five fan speeds up to 3,600 RPM — COSORI was the first in the industry to use a DC motor in an air fryer. Traditional models use AC motors with a single fan speed. Here you can choose the intensity, and that changes the entire cooking approach. At high speed you get a crispy crust like from a deep fryer; at low speed you can dehydrate fruit or proof dough. The temperature range is 30°C to 230°C. At minimum it’s suitable for yogurt and yeast dough; at maximum — for meat with a crust. Thanks to the combination of five fan speed settings and precise temperature control, dishes come out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

According to the manufacturer, the DC motor cooks 46% faster than the COSORI Pro Gen 2 model. In practice, this works especially well for frozen convenience foods, though the exact percentage is hard to verify. Subjectively, it cooks noticeably faster than a conventional oven — a full dinner for a family of 4–6 can be prepared in about 20 minutes, freeing up time for socializing.

Air Fryer Controls

The COSORI DC601 gets by without apps or Wi-Fi — all controls are concentrated on the touch panel on top. And honestly, that’s more than enough. Choose a mode, set the temperature and time, press start — done. No extra steps and no mandatory registration in yet
