If you’ve been following the smartphone market, you couldn’t have missed that manufacturers have recently been obsessed with increasing battery sizes. Five thousand, six, seven — but the ten-thousand milliamp-hour barrier remained untouched. Of course, unless you count smartphones that resemble a brick in size and a tractor wheel in appearance. And now the realme P4 Power 5G is the first mass-market smartphone to cross that threshold. 10,001 mAh in a body less than a centimeter thick — sounds like a fairy tale, but the device truly lasts three to four days without charging and doesn’t even look huge. This is also the first smartphone launched in Russia to feature such a large battery. We’ve already covered the best realme smartphones and how to choose them. Now I’ve spent several weeks with this new device — and I’m ready to tell you whether it lives up to expectations.

Realme P4 Power Smartphone Review

The package comes in the brand’s standard yellow box. Everything is classic for the mid-range segment: the smartphone, an 80W charging brick (included in the box — unlike some other brands), a USB-A to USB-C cable, a SIM tray ejector pin, a transparent silicone case, and a user guide. Honestly, it’s great that they don’t skimp on the charger — you buy the device and you’re immediately ready to go at full power.

When you pick up the P4 Power, the first thing you feel is the weight. The device is hefty at 219 grams — the battery isn’t filled with air. But at the same time, it doesn’t feel big at all: the thickness is 9.08 mm, and the slightly rounded body helps it sit comfortably in your hand. I expected a portable slab, but got a fairly elegant device instead.

The back panel is matte plastic with a TransView effect: through the semi-transparent coating, you can see the NFC coil — the so-called Visible Power Design. It looks fresh — realme developed the design in collaboration with India’s Pearl Academy, and it shows. Two colors are available — Power Silver and Flash Orange. There’s even IP69/68/66 and MIL-STD-810H protection. Rain, dust, dropping in a puddle, and even hot water are no threat to this device. For a smartphone in this price segment, that’s a rare find.

A Rugged Smartphone with a Great Screen

The display turned out to be a pleasant surprise: a 6.8-inch AMOLED, 1280 × 2800 pixel resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth — 1.07 billion shades. The density is 453 PPI, the screen occupies 94% of the front panel, and the glass is Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The manufacturer calls it HyperGlow 4D Curve+ — the screen has a 4D curve that looks stylish and makes side swipes more convenient.

In practice, the screen is genuinely good. Colors are vivid but not oversaturated, and black is truly black. Peak brightness reaches up to 6,500 nits, but in normal mode it’s only 600 with the ability to boost to 1,000. In HBM mode — 1,800 nits. This is a very respectable figure for this price segment; other models can at best only match it.

Outdoors on a sunny day, everything is readable, and the 144 Hz refresh rate really helps when scrolling feeds and playing games — going back to 60 Hz after this is like switching from a commuter train to a horse-drawn cart. As a bonus, there’s support for wet-hand touch — a small but useful feature.

How the Realme P4 Power Camera Performs

The camera isn’t the main highlight of this smartphone, but it also, surprisingly, didn’t disappoint. The main module is a 50 MP f/1.8 on a Sony IMX882 sensor with dual-axis optical image stabilization. Paired with it is an 8 MP f/2.2 wide-angle lens (112°). The front camera features a 16 MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.

The main camera looks unusual. It's hard to call it perfect, but it's easy to call it quite decent. Photo.

During the day, shots come out detailed with proper white balance. OIS helps when shooting on the go, and in the dark, shots don’t come out blurry, although shooting while moving will be difficult and you’ll need to keep your hands steady. Night mode also delivers — details in shadows are preserved with minimal noise.

It’s worth mentioning the AI camera features separately. The “Magic AI Editor” AI Edit Genie 2.0 allows you to process photos right on the device: there’s AI LightMe for AI lighting and AI StyleMe for AI stylization. The AI Perfect Shot feature can fix unflattering facial expressions in group photos on the fly — something that saves nerves during family photos. And AI Instant Clip assembles a ready-made video from your footage in just a couple of seconds.
