Foldable smartphones are no longer a novelty — they’re now a full-fledged market segment. Sometimes manufacturers in this space try to poke fun at competitors in rather amusing ways. For example, Oppo, which released a smartphone without a screen crease, is taking jabs at Samsung. One might feel sorry for the Korean company given the serious shortcomings of the Galaxy S26 Ultra that the company itself acknowledged, but no. It’s all the more interesting to watch how technologies evolve and how their advantages are presented. That’s exactly what Oppo did at the presentation of its new Find N6. It looked bold, but honestly, not without reason.

Screen Crease on Oppo Find N6 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. A Comparison

This week at an event in China, Oppo unveiled the Find N6 — and immediately went into a direct comparison with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 right on stage. The hosts took a Samsung out of its box after it had been sitting folded for about an hour, opened it — and under the stage lights, the crease in the middle of the screen was visible to the naked eye. Then they unfolded the Find N6 next to it — and the difference was noticeable.

I won’t pretend this was an objective lab test — obviously, a presentation is a presentation. But the very fact of a live comparison speaks volumes. Samsung has significantly reduced the crease in recent years — in the Fold 7, it has indeed become less pronounced. However, the Koreans still haven’t managed to eliminate it entirely: according to reviews, the crease depth on the Z Fold 7 is about 0.2 mm — when viewed from the side, it’s still noticeable.

Oppo claims that their Zero-Feel Crease technology has reduced the unevenness to 0.05 mm. This is achieved through 3D Liquid Printing — laser scanning detects microscopic irregularities in the hinge, after which an ultra-precise printer fills them with a photopolymer that is then cured with ultraviolet light. Plus, the updated Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass reduces crease formation by 82% compared to the previous model.

It sounds impressive. But let’s be realistic: Oppo itself notes in a disclaimer that Zero-Feel Crease is a visual effect, not the complete absence of a crease. Nevertheless, the difference from Samsung does appear to be real.

Oppo Find N6 Specs, Camera, and Battery

Beyond the crease, the Find N6 is a serious contender for the title of the most advanced foldable smartphone. Inside — Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (one generation newer than the Z Fold 7), up to 16 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of storage.

A foldable phone without a crease used to be science fiction. Now it’s the Oppo Find N6.

The cameras are a story of their own. The main 200 MP module is complemented by a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x zoom. The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s telephoto is only 10 MP, and the ultra-wide is 12 MP. Both screens on the Find N6 feature 20 MP front-facing cameras. In practice, this means that for a foldable smartphone, the cameras here are truly flagship-level, without the caveat of “well, it’s a foldable after all.”

The battery is a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon type. Samsung has 4,400 mAh — a difference of one and a half times. Charging: 80W wired and 50W wireless versus 25W and 15W for Samsung — a gap that no amount of marketing can cover up.

The Find N6 body measures 8.93 mm when folded, 4.2 mm when unfolded, and weighs 225 g. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is slightly lighter (215 g) and similar in thickness but falls short on battery and cameras.

The Crease on Samsung’s Foldable Screen. Why Haven’t They Removed It?

Honestly, this is a question everyone asks who has ever held a foldable Samsung. The Koreans improve the hinge generation after generation — the Fold 7 introduced an updated Armor FlexHinge with a waterdrop-shaped design. But fully solving the problem remains elusive.

Samsung’s approach is traditionally more conservative — the company doesn’t rush to implement radically new technologies until it’s confident in their long-term reliability. On the other hand, when it comes to software and ecosystem — One UI 8, seven years of updates, Google services out of the box, availability worldwide — Samsung is still ahead. But if the mere existence of a foldable flagship used to be enough for the Koreans, the rules of the game have now changed. Chinese manufacturers are pushing hard on hardware — and pushing seriously.

You could say the crease is the main problem of foldable smartphones. But soon we’ll forget about it.

Which Foldable Smartphone to Buy in 2026 — Oppo or Samsung

And here’s where it gets most interesting — and most disappointing. In terms of specs, the Find N6 looks at least as good as, and in many ways better than, the Galaxy Z Fold 7: a screen without a noticeable crease, a more powerful camera, a 6,000 mAh battery, and fast charging.

But there’s a catch. The Find N6 is officially sold only in China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand. It’s not available in Russia, Europe, or the USA. That means import only, without warranty, without convenient service, without trade-in. The price of the global version is $1,800–1,900, comparable to the Z Fold 7.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is available almost everywhere, offers seven years of updates, excellent optimization, and a complete ecosystem. The crease? Yes, it’s there — but during normal use, it barely gets in the way.

The choice depends on your priorities. If you’re willing to deal with importing and ColorOS doesn’t bother you — the Find N6 offers objectively more advanced hardware. If availability and long-term support are critical — the Z Fold 7 remains the more reliable option. But one thing is clear: Oppo has shown that the crease problem is solvable. And Samsung will now have to respond.
